There is nothing more beautiful than the unconditional love of a parent, which is something hard to understand until one has children of their own. In 2006, Mr. Surapol and Mrs. Nilawan Trakulchang wanted to show this love for their daughter by starting Bioherbtech, their family business, next to a tamarind orchard to one day pass it on to her. It was their hope to provide a good and flourishing life for their child.

Bioherbtech has more than 900 rai of land dedicated as fruit orchards and processing facilities in Laokwan, Kanchanaburi. The first fruit that was chosen to be planted was tamarind, a fruit that has been part of the Thai way of life for more than 700 years since the reign of King Ramkhamhaeng and can flourish for more than a hundred years. In fact, tamarind has numerous benefits from being an essential food and drink ingredient in Thai kitchens, to being an active ingredient in traditional medicine, and even used in beauty products like skin scrubs. For this reason, over 7,500 tamarind trees have been planted in the orchard.

The choice of the tamarind tree as the primary fruit of the orchard is also highly symbolic as a story of love. Tamarind, as a resilient plant, is a strong pillar in the orchard just as parents are to their families by supporting and raising their children up to be good, strong individuals who benefit their communities. Tamarind, with its health benefits, bring love to people by nourishing them. Finally, Tamarind, known for its disease-fighting properties such as for those with diabetics, heart disease and blood pressure, represents the gratitude of children who care for the health and wellness of the elderly.

Love and care that is also passed on to all employees, from the gardener, to the factory staff who in turn produces a labour of love.

Our hope is that our company not only thrives but also encourages the development of local communities by supporting its economic growth through local employment, and contributing to modern agricultural progresses through training and equipping farmers and other organisations in farming.
